Bridge over the Löcknitz River

Highlight • Bridge

The Löcknitz meanders through the forests of Märkisch-Oderland in an absolutely picturesque way. It rises in Brandenburg and flows into the Spree near Erkner.

Due to its largely natural course, it is an important area for flora and fauna. Here you will find, among other things, a large population of river mussels. Beavers, otters and sea eagles also feel at home on the Löcknitz.

Flakensee

Highlight • Lake

The Falkensee is a wonderful excursion destination: a beach promenade invites you to stroll, shore and forest trails to hike. There is a quiet and idyllic nature that you long for after a week's work in Berlin.
Several restaurants and snack bars, mostly with sun terraces, provide for the physical well-being.

Woltersdorf Lock

Highlight • Structure

At the Woltersdorf lock it is possible to rent a raft and float in the surrounding waters. For a long time, the sluice served as a way of transporting the limestone and lime that was mined in Rüdersdorf by water.

Even today, some companies still use this route to transport their goods. Over the centuries, the lock has been expanded more and more in order to be able to cope with all the oncoming shipping traffic, including that in the leisure sector. It is about 65 meters long and eight and a half meters wide. A lock passage takes about 16 minutes.

Flakensee West swimming spot

Highlight • Beach

The small bathing area is located in the area of the Flakensee West campsite (by the way, part of the campsite is on the territory of Berlin, practically an enclave). Access from the campsite to the beach is via stairs.

Beautiful place with a rest bench and a view of the Flakensee. On the opposite bank you can see the Flakensee Ost campsite and Woltersdorf in the area of the lock.

October 9, 2022,Flakensee-Runde von Erkner über Woltersdorf 09.10.2022
From Erkner we started our round around the Flakensee via Woltersdorf. It was a very nice round. Good footwear is recommended due to the numerous roots. In Woltersdorf at the lock there are a few restaurants, a brewery and a café. The old moving tram is well worth seeing. The circular route also leads along the lake promenade. Continue in …

Went for a little ride with a dear colleague in fantastic weather and enjoyed a bit of nature

Quick Sunday loop around Flakensee in between weekend errands and chores to get a breath of fresh air. It took longer to get here and back than it did to hike around the lake - thanks DB and BVG! 🙃
Without further ado, we wanted to hike to the Flakensee ⛵ and associated with it one of the Theodor-Fontane-Wege along with forest poetry paths 🌳🌻 in the direction of Woltersdorf.

It started from S station Erkner. The route is very easy to hike 🥾. There are many places to rest, always with a view of the water. A nice little …

Friday afternoon, the sun is shining, I have to go out! And the round from Erkner via Woltersdorf, hmm, that actually always works. Less than half an hour on the regional train from Alex and hey presto, I'm there. First of all it's time to get out of the not very pretty place, but then I get everything I was …

You should take care of your bike, your teeth and of course your friendships. So today we went to Berlin to visit a long-time friend.

We had chosen a hike around the Flakensee. This is a bit outside of Berlin. To get there, we used the Woltersdorf tram from the Rahnsdorf S-Bahn station. This tram runs as scheduled to Woltersdorf …

Really nice tour. You get surprisingly close to the water, especially on the 'way back'.
We were a little shorter because we stayed close to the lake. The displayed duration was set a bit high.
