Ashbourne Tunnel

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

Ashbourne is a nice city. The drive through the long tunnel is impressive. I was amazed by the crowded bike station at the tunnel exit and the bike traffic on the trail.

Ashbourne Tunnel

Highlight • Structure

There are a few of the old train tunnels local to here, its at the very start of the Tissington Trail, you can see the end for those of you that suffer any form of phobia with this type of thing.

Very polite and friendly staff. Young chap spotted the ti gravel bike a mile off, so we got chatting for 10-15 mins.. I found most people rather friendly around here...

Tissington Trail Scenic View

Highlight • Viewpoint

Worth taking in this view to reward yourself for not stopping on the incline 👍

Bradbourne Brook Ford

Highlight • Bridge

Fun for the fool hardy, slow and steady. Can be deep, be prepared to bail if your bike starts to slide out from under. At your own risk🚲😬. Bridge for the sensible 😉

Singletrack Across the Fields

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

Fun singletrack gravel with a decent descent and spikey climb before descending back to the road. Good fun, 10/10 would recommend.

Bradbourne Village

Highlight • Historical Site

A "doubly thankful" village. A thankful village is one where none of the inhabitants were killed in the First World War. A doubly thankful one is where no inhabitants were killed in either the First or Second World Wars.
Either there weren't many soldiers from Bradbourne or they were very lucky.
The apparent war memorial is actually a commemoration of Queen Victoria's 60 years on the throne.
A nice scenic village but no facilities such as shops, cafes or pubs.
