Sanctuary of Our Lady of Monticino

Highlight • Religious Site

Sanctuary of Monticino: stands on the third hill of Brisighella. It was built 1758-59 to replace an existing building. It houses a sacred terracotta image depicting the Madonna and Child dating back to 1626. The small image represents the half-figure Virgin, dressed in a reddish tunic, surrounded by a white band. A dark green coat covers her head. The interior of the sanctuary, with a single nave, is decorated with elegant pilasters with Ionic capitals. The main altar is covered with precious marble. In the apse there are frescoes by the Faenza painter Savino Lega (Faenza, 1813-1889) [12]. The facade was significantly enlarged in 1926 on a project by Edoardo Collamarini.

Marino Tower

Highlight • Monument

The Torre del Marino was built towards the end of the 15th century, for defensive and sighting purposes (in fact it dominates the Senio Valley and a vast hilly area) by the Naldi family and was later owned by the Rondinini family. From 1794 it became the property of Antonio Marino, from whom it inherited its current name.
