Princes' Rocks

Highlight • Natural Monument

The Prinzenfelsen is located in the middle of the forest, but is not far from the Gasthaus Silberhaus. A nice little climbing insert brings you up through a chunky rock labyrinth to the view over the treetops. The detour is also worthwhile for mountain bikers. The best way to connect with the nearby nearby Girgelhöhle.

North Shore of Fichtelsee

Highlight • Lake

Although the Fichtelsee has its origins in mining, today it is a really beautiful, natural and almost romantic place. In 1650, a ditch was dug from Hochgmoor to Fichtelberg to drain water and use it to drive the hammers. As a result, the moor dried out more and more. So in 1739 a reservoir was built: the Fichtelsee. In 1983 it was enlarged to a total of around eleven hectares.

It is great to cycle around the lake. In summer it invites you to go swimming or boating. In winter you can ice skate on an ice rink on the shore of the Fichtelsee. What's particularly cool is that the ice is illuminated and you can rent ice skates on site. Here in the north of the lake begins the Seelohe nature reserve, where you will find typical raised moor vegetation.

It is always beautiful at Fichtelsee, even if there is usually a lot going on on Sundays. The jetty is a great place for photo opportunities 😎☕️

As of today, November 24th, 2021, you can cross the two new bridges I think they look appropriate and go well with the lake and the hotel ’
