Steiff Museum

Highlight • Monument

Giengen is the teddy bear's capital and a visit to the Steiff Museum is a must. In the museum you will learn all about the history of the company and its founder Margarete Steiff. In the historical area, rare fabric figures from the company's history are exhibited and you can see how still today Steiff animals are produced according to traditional methods. In the petting zoo even a safari with life-size Steiff animals is waiting for you! The museum is open daily from 10am to 6pm. Beautifully landscaped biotope in the course of Brenz renaturation. Should be done on many more rivers.

Rest Area by the Brenz River

Highlight • River

It's very beautiful how quietly the Brenz flows. You can get into the water here; there's something like a fortified bank here.

A real postcard motif. Pure idyll, right next to a supermarket with a bakery. Here you can take a coffee break and enjoy the view

Charlottenhöhle

Highlight • Cave

At almost 600 meters long, the Charlottenhöhle is one of the largest publicly accessible stalactite caves in Baden-Württemberg. Adjacent to the cave is the HöhlenHaus, a modern museum where you can learn in depth about the history of the cave and its animal inhabitants.

The cave is closed in winter. More information at hoehlenerlebniswelt.de.

The ruins of Kaltenburg Castle are located in the Lone Valley between the towns of Hürben and Burgberg in the Heidenheim district in Baden-Württemberg. Larger remains of the wall have been preserved from the high medieval fortifications.

Kaltenburg Ruins

Highlight • Castle

The castle dates from the early 12th century and came into the possession of the Counts of Helfenstein in the 14th century. After the castle was severely damaged in the Thirty Years War, it was only partially rebuilt. The ruins fell into disrepair and it was not until the 20th century that efforts were made to preserve the castle's condition. In the 1980s, large parts of the castle ruins were renovated and, above all, the two towers on the valley side were completely repaired.

In 2010 part of the defensive wall on the slope collapsed. The Kaltenburg-Verein organized a repair of the shield wall only with donations. The work was completed in the summer of 2018 and now the castle shines again in all its glory.
