Thierbach Suspension Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

Pretty suspension bridge connecting Thierbach & Zinnberg over the Mulde. It's best to switch to the Thierbacher side at this bridge if you are heading towards Waldenburg and want to hike along the Muldeweg. 🥾

The small weir has a fish ladder and you have a great view of the suspension bridge directly from the water, which offers a great photo opportunity.

Very nice park near the castle for hiking. You can also ride a bike very well and combine it with a tour of the Zwickauer Mulde.

February 27, 2026,🇩🇪 Penig - Waldenburg - entlang der Zwickauer Mulde
Making the most of the first rays of sunshine: From Penig along the Zwickauer Mulde river to Waldenburg and back. A varied riverside hike with beautiful paths and expansive views.

A long but rewarding loop with plenty of nature and a tranquil riverside atmosphere – ideal for extended days of hiking.

Start today at the Grünfelder Park car park (daily fee 6.00 EUR) in Waldenburg. To the right of the Mulde we went in the direction of Wolkenburg with a detour to the "Source of the Golden Cock" in Schlagwitz. With a view of Wolkenburg Castle, a detour to Hauboldfelsen is worthwhile. Across the swing bridge, past the court clerk's house …

Say the 0️⃣ to the 8️⃣: Nice belt! 🙂

I don't remember who I got this tour from. But not long ago. I say thank you. Very nice to walk, especially the way back from Waldenburg.

Beautiful round with lots of nature and beautiful cities. The paths are well signposted and maintained.

I've done a similar loop along the Zwickau Mulde before, including the Mulde Dam, and it's always beautiful. There would have been refreshments in Wolkenburg, not in the castle, but down by the old Muldental railway.

Small Sunday round trip unfortunately with a lot of mosquitoes to accompany you 😪, otherwise a pleasant round. It's hard to imagine that in a year's time trains will be running in Wolkenburg again.
