Beautiful Klumpertal, easy to hike on the Red Circle hiking trail. It becomes more challenging if you include the Jägersteig. Detour to the Schüttersmühle with a rest stop at the kiosk. Also a paradise for climbing enthusiasts.

Our last little round of this vacation took us to the Klumpertal near Pottenstein. Here the Weihersbach forms a small but beautiful valley before it flows into the Wiesent.
Interesting rock formations can be found on both sides, as of course everywhere around Pottenstein. A little cozy round to end! 😃📷🪨🏞️

You can also start above Schüttersmühle in the direction of Kirchenbirkig at a small car park. We hiked up the valley, then back along the west side (it goes up and down) and then went back up on the east route (long forest paths) and then experienced the Klumpertal in the opposite direction.

After a night at the Bärentalschlucht campsite, today's itinerary included the Teufelshöhle cave in Pottenstein. An impressive stalactite cave that, in my opinion, is well worth the €9 entrance fee per person. Afterwards, we hiked through the lovely Klumpertal valley, the climbing forest, and the Weiherbachtal valley back to the Teufelshöhle parking lot. A fantastic loop that I highly recommend! …
