I would like to go down there with my MTB (if I dare, because the surface is slippery and rocky). The picture doesn't show how steep it really is. Every now and then you can see 10 to 20 quads trying their hand at the escarpment. A few years ago there was a really wide strip that was free of bushes and trees. In the meantime, however, nature has already reclaimed a lot.

Buchenmühle near Grüsselbach

Highlight • Historical Site

The origin of the beech mill between Soisdorf and Wenigentaft probably dates back to the 16th century. The state border between the Grand Duchy of Saxe-Weimar (GSW) and the Kingdom of Prussia (KP) ran right through the property. Later also the “state border west” of the GDR. Boundary stones with the abbreviations "GSW", "KP" and "DDR" can still be seen along the way today. A well that supplied the miller family with drinking water, the temporary home that was to serve as living space for the old farmers after the farm was handed over to a successor, the shed and the bakehouse were all in Thuringia. On September 14, 1961, everything, including the 100-year-old evictions house (half-timbered house), was demolished by the GDR border troops in front of the eyes of the owners. Three years later, with a heavy heart, the family decided to move into a new home about 500 meters south. The foundations of the moving house and remains of the fountain can still be seen today.

Soisberg

Highlight • Summit

The Soisberg is the highest mountain in the Soisdorfer Kuppenrhön. As such, the Soisberg is also called the king of Hessian skittles. There is a tower on the mountain from which you have a magnificent all-round view. This tower is also affectionately called the "crown of the Hessian skittles game".

The old train station was extensively renovated privately by Großentaft many years ago. Today the building is a gem on the bowling alley.

This new shelter is being built on the spot where there used to be a small seating area (table with bench). It complements the shelters on the bowling cycle path; is of a slightly different design.
