An Inglis Bridge, this span is worth pausing by and taking a closer look at. Designed by Charles Edward Inglis in the very early 1900s, this style of bridge was designed to be portable for use during wartime by the military. The idea was to make it as simply as possible and enable it to be constructed quickly – in an afternoon no less.

While there are other Inglis Bridges around, this one over the Basingstoke Canal is the only Inglis Pyramid Bridge in the world.

The modern metal structure of Eelmoor Bridge replaced a former brick one. Offers lovely views along the Basingstoke Canal and down to Eelmoor Flash - a great place to spot dragonflies and damselflies.

Eelmoor Flash

Highlight • Natural

A flash is a type of lake created from subsidence, often after activities such as mining. There are numerous flashes across the country and Basingstoke Canal has a handful. These small lakes make for great birdwatching sights and Eelmoor Flash is known for its dragonflies and damselflies in the summer months. Just along the canal to the east, you'll find a couple more.
