Important church surrounded by several equally descriptive old houses. Particularly interesting in the afternoon and evening sun.

Inspector's House, Brandenburg an der Havel

Highlight • Historical Site

The Old Town Hall is considered an outstanding example of Gothic brick architecture.
In the middle of the 15th century, the council and writing rooms were first created. Later, between 1470 and 1480, the main building with the tower was built. Until the unification of the two Brandenburg cities in 1715, the town hall was the administrative center of the old town.

Luckenberger Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

The Luckenberger Bridge is a road bridge over the Brandenburger Niederhavel River in the city of Brandenburg an der Havel. Formerly known as the New Havel Bridge, it was built in 1890/91 to connect the Wilhelmsdorf and Neuendorf suburbs.

The former bascule bridge formed an important new connection between the urban expansion areas of the New Town and the Old Town. It was built as a bascule bridge to allow shipping to continue to use this then-important waterway, which only lost its importance in November 1910 with the opening of the Silo Canal.

The old bridge was replaced by a new one in 1923 according to plans by Moritz Wolf,
because the bridge could no longer cope with the traffic, and the construction of the Silo Canal made a bascule bridge, with its associated technical problems, no longer necessary.

Like many other bridges, the Luckenberger Bridge was destroyed at the end of World War II but was rebuilt in 1945. It has a total length of 58.60 meters and, in a slender form without supporting pillars in the water, spans the Lower Havel River in Brandenburg. Due to its design and its adequate bridge clearance, it poses no problems for today's passenger and recreational boating on the river.

The Brandenburg City Canal and the Brandenburg Havel are the main arms of the river in Brandenburg. There are also other smaller arms and smaller rivers (e.g. Plane).

After the bank of the city canal was finally designed in a presentable way as part of the BUGA 2016, there is a wonderful evening atmosphere here, which has often invited me to linger on my way to the train.
