Clogwyn is an intermediate stop on the Snowdon Mountain Railway that sits on an exposed ridge with views of the Llanberis Pass and the renowned climbing cliffs of Clogwyn Du'r Arddu. Typically the raillway is open during the operating season, which runs from late spring to early autumn (April to October). Its availability may depend on weather conditions, as the exposed ridge can be affected by strong winds or poor visibility.

This stop is ideal for visitors wanting to experience stunning views without hiking the full trail to Snowdon's summit.

Snowdon Summit (Yr Wyddfa)

Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) is perhaps the most ascended mountain in the world, and with good reason. This is a majestic mountain, as is befitting of Wales' highest point.

Its glory lies in the myriad routes to the summit. There's everything from the gentle inclines of the Llanberis path to the knife-edged arête of Crib Goch. The south side of the mountain is generally quieter, with the South Ridge in particular a fine route up. The Miners' and Pyg Tracks are straightforward, classic approaches that enter the incredible natural amphitheatre that holds Llyn Llydaw and Glaslyn.

To get the summit to yourself, rise early and avoid peak season.

Snowdon Summit and Visitor Centre

Although some sections at Snowdon's summit are unrideable, hiking your bike up to the 3,560 foot (1,085 m) peak is well worth it.

The views are nothing short of spectacular, there's a busy cafe should you need to refuel, as well as a train back down, though you'd be missing one of the longest, most enjoyable mountain descents in the UK!

Please take note of the voluntary cycling agreement on Snowdon and avoid riding to or from the summit between 10am and 5pm from the 1st May to the 30th September.

Llanberis Village and Llyn Padarn

Llanberis is synonymous with Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). It's a popular starting point for some of the easier ways to the roof of Wales. Whether it’s via the Llanberis Path or a ride on the Snowdon Mountain Railway, thousands of people every year head to the village with the summit in their sights.

Long before it was a draw to tourists and hikers, Llanberis was a slate mining town. The Dinorwig Quarry's slate tips are a stark reminder of the region’s heritage.

The village is blessed with several good outdoor gear shops and characterful places to eat and drink.
