Pinsapos Trail

Highlight • Trail

The popular route, known as Paseo de los Pinsapos, is a linear route that goes through the only pinsapares that exist on peridotite rocks in the world.

The 750-meter path that this route follows has a well-defined layout among a forest of Spanish fir trees. The Pinsapo is one of the botanical jewels of the Sierra Bermeja, a sturdy fir tree with a pyramidal crown, up to 30 meters tall. The path ends in a small square after crossing a small bridge over the Algarrobo Gorge, where a mural by Federico García Lorca decorates a mural. The way back follows the same route as the outward journey.

Pinsapar Promenade

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

The pinsapo forest of Sierra Bermeja is very special, as it is the only one that grows on peridotite (non-calcareous) rocks. This species is a survivor of the Tertiary era and escaped the ice ages by taking refuge on these peaks. It only exists in a handful of mountain ranges in Málaga and Cádiz.

The 3.1-kilometer climb rewards you with spectacular views. Los Reales peak is the highest peak in Sierra Bermeja with 1452 meters above sea level. It is best to climb it on clear days, when you can even see the peaks of Sierra Nevada.

Restaurante Les Basses Montagnes

Highlight • Restaurant

Spain, Andalusia, Estepona, Paraje Natural Los Reales de Sierra Bermeja, Los Reales y Mirdor is a restaurant at an altitude of 1155 m, located in a nature reserve in the mountains outside Estepona. It has a viewing terrace from which you have a revolutionary view as far as Marbella, which is the main attraction. Anyone returning from a hike in the nature reserve can enjoy Andalusian culinary delicacies here, the restaurant is really a highlight, I can recommend everyone to stop here. I had a tomato salad, bean soup and lamb, the cuisine won me over. The staff are also very friendly and accommodating. In short, everything is just right here!
