The Battle of Britain Memorial, Capel-le-Ferne

Seabrook Beach

The beach along this coastline stretches for miles and is fantastic for paddling, swimming and sunbathing. This section is just at the end of the Royal Military Canal, between Hythe and Folkestone. Take care of the tides here as they are absolutely enormous at springs and quite large at neaps.

Sandgate Castle

Sandgate Castle is an artillery fort originally constructed by Henry VIII in Sandgate in Kent, between 1539 and 1540. It formed part of the King's Device programme to protect England against invasion from France and the Holy Roman Empire, and defended vulnerable point along the coast. It comprised a central stone keep, with three towers and a gatehouse. It could hold four tiers of artillery, and was fitted with a total of 142 firing points for cannon and handguns.

Lower Leas Coastal Park

The Lower Leas Coastal Park is home to the largest free adventure play area in the South East.

It also boasts an amphitheatre which hosts theatre and musical performances during the warmer months, and is right next to the beach.

The park is split into three zones, with the formal zone comprising pine avenues, gardens and flowers blooming all year. The fun zone has several different play areas, while the wild zone is a haven for quiet recreation, where sensitive habitat management allows wildlife to thrive.
