Hrobacza Łąka Mountain Hut

Highlight • Mountain Hut

The hostel on Hrobacza Łąka is a private shelter. Located in the Beskid Mały, in the Magurka Wilkowicka range. To the north of the summit, there is the village of Kozy, the most populated village in our country. From the south, the tourist town of Międzybrodzie Bialskie on Lake Międzybrodzkie. In 2002, a 35-meter-high steel Cross of the Third Millennium was erected at the top. From the top you can see amazing views of the Silesian Upland, the Eastern Sudetes with the dominant High Jeseník, the western part of Magurka Wilkowicka, the Policy Range, Babia Góra and Pilska in the Żywiec Beskids, in nice weather you can see Turbacz and part of the Gorce Mountains. From the south, you can see Hawrań in the Bielskie Tatras, a few peaks of the High Tatras and the Western Tatras. In winter, you can watch the sunrise from the chalet, and in summer, from a vantage point, you can watch the sunset just behind the Jeseníky Mountains. Right next to the shelter, on the meadow, there is a public shed and separate places for bonfires. You can reach the shelter by car from Międzybrodzie Bialskie.

The shelter was established in the 1930s as a private investment by siblings Zofia, Michalina and Jan Dorzak. After World War II, the facility became the property of the Dorzak family, while the branch of PTT (then PTTK) from Bielsko-Biała opened a tourist station with 15 places to sleep in it. In 1973, the owners sold the building to Rudolf Baścik, who, together with the Agricultural Production Cooperative POSTĘP z Stara Wieś, ran the facility until 1991. At that time, the building was expanded and adapted and renovated. In 1991 the shelter was purchased free of charge by the S.O.S. Obrony Poczętego Życia from Warsaw, which created a tourist and retreat house here (since 1998 the building has its own chapel). On January 7, 2017, a fire broke out in the shelter. The hostel has been excluded from tourist traffic. Reconstruction began in spring 2017

The hostel has 38 beds.

The chapel on the pass at the Maiden

Highlight • Religious Site

A pillar chapel, on the red MSB trail.

The chapel was founded by the forester of the Kozy estate, Juliusz Beinlich, in 1884, as tradition has it – in gratitude for miraculously saving his life from wolves. The chapel has the form of a stone obelisk made of processed sandstone blocks (probably of local origin), with a pedestal with a widened base. The painting in the upper part – the face of the Częstochowa Madonna – was founded by Julia and Jerzy Giernl from Kraków, who are family-related to Kozy, in 1965. The inscription carved in the stone refers to the founder and the date of foundation.
