Church of the Blessed Virgin Assunta in Crugnola

The hamlet of Crugnola is mentioned in a parchment dated 1288 kept in the Historical Archives of the Archiepiscopal Curia of Milan, where it speaks of the priest Giovanni di Culignolla. Registered in the acts of 1751 as a village of 151 inhabitants, in 1786 Crugnola became part of the ephemeral Province of Varese for five years, and then continuously changed the administrative references in 1791, 1798 and 1799. At the proclamation of the Kingdom of Italy in 1805 appeared to have 218 inhabitants. In the Napoleonic era (1809) the neighboring municipality of Vinago was aggregated to Crugnola, but only two years later the municipality of Crugnola was also suppressed, and aggregated to Menzago. All the municipalities recovered their autonomy in 1816, following the establishment of the Lombard-Veneto Kingdom. In the unification of Italy, Crugnola had 353 inhabitants. The municipality was suppressed in 1869 and aggregated to the municipality of Mornago.
