Piazza dei Signori

Highlight • Historical Site

Piazza dei Signori is the center of Treviso, in the sense that it is located in the middle of the city but it is also a meeting place for the Trevigiani doc. According to some, the square takes its name from the Palazzo della Signoria, the current palace of the Prefecture, while others argue that it refers to the wealthy classes that once lived in the surrounding buildings. In any case, today Piazza dei Signori remains one of the most characteristic places in the city, whether you want to have a drink in company or are visiting some of the majestic architectures that crown this square.

Fountain of the Breasts

Highlight • Monument

Special hidden gem of Treviso. A fountain with all kinds of stories.
But what is his real story?

It was 1559 when the then mayor of Treviso, Alvise Da Ponte, had this unique statue built after a severe drought had hit the area.

During the Venetian era (until 1797) the statue was placed in the praetorian palace. To celebrate the election of the mayors, for three days every year, white wine was poured from one chest and red wine from the other, so that all citizens could drink freely... a kind of ombralonga

Napoleon's troops, seeing it as a symbol of local power, severely damaged it and the statue was lost for a long time. It was rediscovered by Abbot Luigi Bailo, who included it in the Casa da Noal Museum.

A copy of the statue, rebuilt in 1989 by Peruvian sculptor Miguel Mi, currently resides there

Porta San Tommaso

Highlight • Monument

Porta San Tomaso is a gate that opens onto the sixteenth-century walls of Treviso. It is located in the north-eastern area of the centre, facing the current Pontebbana road heading north. It is certainly the most majestic of the three gates, entirely covered with decorative elements in Istrian stone that reflect the pattern of the classical triumphal arches. The whole is concluded by a peculiar dome in lead wood. The lion of San Marco that stands out in the center of the external front, although ancient, is not the original as it was placed here in 1857.

Villapendola Junction

Highlight • Trail

The junction point located on Villapendola Island is locally known as the Villapendola Crossroads, an essential geographical reference for those traversing the Restera del Sile. At this exact juncture, the traveler faces a clear scenic choice. Towards Casier, the route becomes evocative thanks to the iconic swing bridge and suspended walkways that overlook the Cimitero dei Burci (Ship Cemetery), allowing one to walk in close proximity to the water. In the opposite direction, the path proceeds towards Lago Verde, skirting the embankment in a more natural and sheltered setting. Although it does not have a formal name on maps, it remains the island's beating heart, crucial for navigating between the park's diverse ecosystems and historical structures.

The stone bridge of Villapendola represents the natural completion of the ring path that crosses the islet of the same name. This masonry structure retains a rustic and historical charm, integrating perfectly with the surrounding river landscape. Located at the eastern end of the island, the bridge spans the secondary canal, allowing visitors to rejoin the Alzaia path and the main flow of the Restera. It is a privileged observation point for admiring the riparian flora and wildlife, such as turtles and aquatic birds, that inhabit the calm waters of the dead branch of the Sile. This passage transforms a simple walk into an immersive experience, suspended between the tranquility of the island and the liveliness of the most beloved cycle-pedestrian path by the people of Treviso. Hand-cranked.

University Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

Pedestrian bridge over the Sile that connects Riviera Garibaldi to Riviera Santa Margherita. Designed by Paolo Portoghesi, inspired by the original Santa Margherita bridge as painted by Medoro Coghetto in the 1700s, it connects the complex of the former civil hospital of San Leonardo and the former Military District, headquarters, respectively, of the branches of the 'University of Padua and the Ca' Foscari University of Venice.
