It is a wooden bridge for pedestrians and bicycles inaugurated on 1 October 2000. It runs alongside the masonry bridge called Ponte Nuovo, on the old ring road downstream of the city. The works on the bridge, blown up during the last war, ended in April 1945 and were carried out by the 738th Palestinian Engineer Company of the British 8th Army. A marble plaque was walled up in the central arch bearing the star of David and the number 5369, which identified the Company in the records of the English War Ministry. Nearby, the Tempietto della memoria is dedicated in particular to the Jewish victims of the Holocaust and, more extensively, to all the victims of the Nazi extermination camps.
