Austria's Longest Bench

Highlight • Monument

11/19/2020 - As you can see in my photos, the sun also comes to the longest bench in Austria, so it is also the longest tanning bed (solarium), the idea is simply brilliant, as a local tells me: something special here every year Installed - whatever fits into the landscape!

Gate to the World Market Leaders

Highlight • Monument

November 19, 2020 - The idea of the Kapfenberg Tourist Association, also the main bearer of costs, is almost three years old to create a gate at the bottom of the Gruber-Rührer family and with the most beautiful view of the city of Kapfenberg. Numerous drafts and discussions were necessary. Now the result is impressive: the arch is five meters high with a clearance of 3.6 meters; the globe has a diameter of 1.8 meters and the total weight is 800 kilograms. The stainless steel material fits like the name of the gate to the industrial city of Kapfenberg, as there are 15 world market leaders.

Regional builder
The artistic design based on a design by the company "buerozwo" Kapfenberg was entrusted to an artist from St. Lorenzen. Dismas "Dissi" Sachan produced the oversized and supra-regional gate with his team from Metallbau Sachan. Although the bull at the Red-Bull Ring is one of his best-known and greatest works, he is particularly pleased that a landmark and photo point has now also been created in his home country.

For five years you have been hiking through the three communities of Turnau, St. Lorenzen and Kapfenberg. A big thank you was given to the Gruber family, who not far from the gate run the highest mountain farm in town (1,130 meters), which is also one of the Bründlweg farmers.

The eighth wonder of the world? Well, this is a very special place! Right at the start of the Bründlweg trail, a six-meter-deep pond awaits the brave. A 40-meter-long footbridge spans the shimmering water, and not just any old way! You can wade in up to your calves and still reach the other side with a steady step. The railing ensures you don't fall into the chilly water, and the stepping stones help you cross safely.

But if things get a bit tiring, there's a cozy rest area in the middle. There you can sit and look directly at the famous Steirereck inn – a real treat for the eyes and the soul. And when you finally reach the other side, a hut even awaits you to dry your feet. You can look back with pride on your underwater-above-water walk and think to yourself – this kind of experience is truly out of the ordinary! You can definitely say that this is a real taste of Styrian joie de vivre.

Saw a report on TV a few weeks ago. Hiked this great round with geocaching today.

Easy to walk and 8x a stop with good food and drink as a refreshment on the approximately 10 km long beautiful route.

The romantic Bründlweg is a circular path on the Pogusch with a length of approx. 11 km and Austria's longest barefoot path. The hiking trail offers views of the Mur and Mürz valleys as well as the Hochschwab area. Along the way, refreshment stops with culinary delicacies ensure the hikers' physical well-being.
