Sulphur Springs Train Station

Highlight • Historical Site

The Sulphur Springs Train Station is a well-preserved historical train stop. Take a look at old trains and enjoy a Trail Information Centre with restrooms, covered picnic benches, bike lock area and drinking fountain. There's even a little ice cream shop. The old, red Victorian building has been used on TV shows, so if it looks familiar you may have seen it before.

The Hermitage Ruins

Highlight • Historical Site

These ruins are of the second house built on this property when it was acquired by the Leiths in the 1850s. It burned down in 1934, although the daughter of the Leiths continued living on the premises in a smaller house within it. There are plenty of ghost stories surrounding this place, mostly stemming from the death of William Black, who appeared hung in the barn, following a truncated love affair with a relative of the previous owner of the estate, Otto Ives.

Main Loop

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

The Main Loop starts at the Sulphur Springs Train Station and loops through a hemlock grove and past the Hermitage Ruins. Hiking counter-clockwise tackles the steeper climbs instead of descending them. This trail is shared by hikers, trail runners, gravel cyclists, and horseback riders, and has quite a bit of shade but does pass sunny open meadows.
