Already known since the early Bronze Age, cigarettes, coffee, and rum were smuggled between Bavaria and Tyrol here after the Second World War. Another highlight is the spectacular gorge.

Easy way from point A. Here is a parking lot for 3.-€. However, I recommend hiking shoes with appropriate soles for the path.

Start from the spacious hiking car park (3€/day) or alternatively further ahead at the fork (stage 5) there is another small car park (2€/day). The tour is rocky but easy to walk, with stairs and the two suspension bridges. Lots of places to sit/rest and if the Klobenstein inn below the chapel is open, there is also a place to …

Today's family hike to the Klobenstein pilgrimage church led along the Smugglers' Trail in Kössen.

The start and finish was a paid hiking parking lot.

Highlights of the tour include the 33-meter-long rope suspension bridge and the suspension bridge over the Großache Gorge.

Another highlight of the hike is the new viewing platform with breathtaking views.

Great hiking trail with viewing platforms and suspension bridges. Great views.

A beautiful route, with a nice place to stop for refreshments. No particular challenges, easy to walk with a dog. The interactive audio play is well made for children, but it does slow down progress 😉
