Nördlingen is surrounded by Germany's only completely preserved and fully accessible city wall. A walk on the 2.7-kilometer-long defense system offers a wonderful view of the medieval streets. If you climb the "Daniel" - the bell tower of the late Gothic St. George's Church - you have a wonderful panoramic view of the city and the Ries, a meteorite crater that was formed about 14.5 million years ago.
