Kaltenbrunn Estate

Originally, the land with the 15th century estate was owned by the Tegernsee monastery. The Kaltenbrunn estate received its name from a farming family from Kaltenpronn who moved here in 1411 and farmed the property for several generations. The estate was sold several times until 1777 when the Tegernsee monastery under Abbot Gregory I bought the estate back. The Bavarian king later acquired it - until the 1970s it was owned by the Bavarian nobility. After major plans for a hotel complex failed after years of back and forth, it is now leased by Käfer Feinkost, which runs the gastronomy including the wonderfully situated beer garden. This is enthroned on the hilly northern shore area and allows stunning views to the south over the lake.
