Modler House, Obernberg am Inn

Highlight • Historical Site

Johann Baptist Modler was the fourth and youngest child of the respected cloth-making family of Johann Adam Modler and his wife Regina from Hohenfels in Upper Palatinate and was baptized on May 30, 1697 in the parish church there. He first learned the cloth making trade from his father. This profession required color sense, taste and knowledge of ornaments. After his apprenticeship, Modler went on the move because it was not possible to secure a sufficient income for all children in his father's workshop. So he came to Obernberg am Inn, where he entered the service of the cloth maker Josef Groll and on November 11, 1729 married his 19-year-old daughter Maria Theresia, who gave him three sons, Johann Kaspar (1730), Melchior Georg Josef (1732) and Balthasar Modeler (1735) gave. In 1736, Modler left Obernberg and moved with his family to Kößlarn, where his wife gave birth to eight more children.

Because Modler could not support a family with his art alone, even in Kößlarn, his wife ran a grocery store on the side. That is why he is often referred to as "Stukhadorer and Kramer".

Reichersberg Abbey

Highlight • Religious Site

19 "canons" belong to this monastery, part of which lives permanently in the magnificent grounds. You can get to know them as part of a monastery tour. If you really want to calm down, you can even stay overnight. Cyclists and pilgrims in particular are welcome to spend the night in the pen, which by the way lies directly on the Roman bike path R6 and, as a "bed + bike" partner, is especially geared to the needs of cyclists.

Antiesen River

Highlight • River

The Antiesen is a river in the Upper Austrian district of Ried im Innkreis with a length of about 42 kilometers. It rises north of Ampflwang in the Hausruckwald and flows through the Inn and Hausruckviertler Hügelland. It flows into the Inn at St. Marienkirchen near Schärding.
The Antiesen is a charming river that offers many opportunities for nature and leisure lovers. For example you can:
Explore the river by canoe or packraft. The Antiesen is a small river that can only be navigated when the water level is right. You should inform yourself beforehand about the obstacles such as weirs, power plants or ground levels.
Hike or bike along the river. There are many beautiful paths and bridges that allow you to see the Antiesen. You can also visit the places and sights along the river, such as Ried im Innkreis, Aurolzmünster or St. Martin im Innkreis.
Fishing the river. The Antiesen is a fishing area that is home to various species of fish, such as trout, grayling, pike and carp. But you need a valid license and you have to comply with the legal regulations.
The Antiesen is therefore a river with a lot of history, nature and culture. I hope you felt like getting to know her better
