Coigach Peninsula Scenic Road (Loch Lurgainn & Loch Bad a' Ghaill)

This section is off the official North Coast 500 route as the roads are too small to accommodate caravans and motorhomes, but is absolutely stunning for cycling, so make the most of these tiny C roads. This is an absolute highlight of the west coast that you'll miss if you stay on the driver's route.

There are many beautiful parts to the Kylesku to Lochinver road, but this part has a nice open feel that weaves between the lochans and wee braes in a flowing fashion. Recently resurfaced (2021) in the smoothest black tar I've encountered anywhere.

Kylesku Village, Hotel and Bridge

A small fishing village that used to have a ferry service to cross the loch until it was replaced by a bridge in 1984.
The Kylesku hotel is a good rest stop or destination with an excellent fish-based menu and a nice bar.
They have separate summer and winter opening times and are open to non-residents as well as people staying.
