I was shocked by how much the thistles are taking over in the alpine area of the Turnhöhe. At most, this pleases the swallowtail butterflies, but not the livestock or the livestock farmers.

Today I hike with the mountain witches on the Königsberg. The heat deterred all hikers and so we were almost alone all day. We met a few cyclists at the Kitzhütte. It was a pleasant hike despite the heat, as there was a light breeze.

Very nice hike with great views of the mountains all around. Siebenhütte is beautifully situated with a playground and lots of outdoor seating, but the space inside is very cramped. The landlady is very nice, all the food is excellent and cheap. I would do this tour again at any time.
