Loughrigg Fell Descent

Highlight (Segment) • Climb

A fantastic descent from the summit of Loughrigg Fell into Skewith Bridge. Dropping 330ft in just 0.7 miles, the descent consists of a mixture of loose rocks, limestone slabs and fast gravel sections. Due to it's proximity to Ambleside, it can get busy and therefore is best ridden early in the day. Be mindful of walkers and other trail traffic.

Indeed a nice place to picnic by the water. Bring everything, there are no facilities.

7.66 km

Cyclists and hikers share this unique panoramic path, contouring around the side of Loughrigg Fell. Best to avoid the busiest times at weekends. It gets really rocky in parts so be prepared for a bit of hike-a-bike!

Enjoy the view over Grasmere and Rydal Water as you link to the road at Red Bank.

Rydal Water Beach

Easy trail- just watch out for the walkers!

Once through the stone wall entrance, there are several trails leading off to different directions. Keep an eye on your navigation as it is easy to get onto the wrong trail

Very good gravel/cobble surface. Usually very busy with families and walkers.

The Trevor Woodburn Bridge

Highlight • Cycleway

The bridge is situated on a footpath and cycle path linking Elterwater to Skelwith Bridge, near Ambleside in Cumbria. The bridge spans the River Brathay, a short distance upstream from the Skelwith Force waterfall.
The bridge was designed and built by specialist metalwork company Chris Brammall Ltd, who have also created some very fine bridge railings in Staveley and Sunderland.
