Korbetha Village Church

Highlight • Religious Site

According to an inscription by the pastor Daniel Fiedler on the eastern choir wall, the nave, a simple hall building closed on three sides, is a baroque new building from 1720. The rectangular western tower, on the other hand, comes from the previous building. Its late Romanesque capitals on the small columns of the coupled ogival sound openings point to the early 13th century. In 1723 the tower was slightly increased and provided with a slate dome and a lantern.

The church hall has a flat ceiling and a horseshoe gallery. The uniform baroque interior from around 1730 has been preserved. The wooden pulpit altar with rich carved decoration and glazed gallery door probably comes from the Merseburg sculptor Johann Heinrich Agner the Elder. Ä. (1684-1744). The baptism and the lectern are also made of wood.

The organ case dates back to 1736, the organ was built in 1910 in Wilhelm Rühlmann's workshop in Zörbig. The pews and the painting also date from 1910, when the church was restored.
Right: Tomb for Daniel Fiedler, 1738

In the churchyard there are several baroque tombs, some of them weathered, including the tomb for Daniel Fiedler from 1738, with a female and an angel figure on the side, the creator of which is probably also Agner.

The Planena lock is a lock on the federal waterway Saale near Saale-km 70.38. Planena is today the southernmost district of the city of Halle (Saale) in Saxony-Anhalt. The actual village of Planena is a small rural village in the southwest of the district.
The lock, built in 1820, is a simple chamber lock with vertical walls. The lock chamber and head of the lock consist of brick masonry with a sandstone cladding. The lock sole was laid out with sandstone blocks. Mortise gates, which are driven electromechanically, are used to close the chamber. The lock chamber is emptied and filled using short lateral circuits. The lock is approved for ships up to a length of about 47 meters, which corresponds to the unstrut dimension that is no longer common today. A bridge leads over the head of the lock. It is worth exploring the Saale cycle path, Merseburg with its cathedral and castle should not be left behind when driving. The park at the cathedral is a feast for the eyes (in every season).
