Highlight • Rest Area

Entrance to Oulton Park race circuit. As I could hear racing going on I went in the circuit entrance by going over the bridge. You can see cars going around from this area, without actually having to go in.

Great coffee and lovely cakes; just what is needed to sustain you on a ride (Interestingly our piece of Bara Brith looked suspiciously like a huge piece of delicious Bakewell tart - a much better choice we decided!!).

Highly recommended and we'll visit again.

Beeston Castle

Highlight • Viewpoint

Beeston Castle is a magnificent 11th-century former stronghold that once belonged to Henry III. Built in the 1220s by Ranulf de Blondeville, the castle was partly destroyed under Cromwell in the mid-16th century.

From the castle, you can see across eight counties; as far as the Welsh mountains in the east and the Pennines to the west.

Today, the castle is open on weekends from 10am - 4pm. Entrance costs £8 for adults.
