Tollesbury saltmarsh is part of the Blackwater Estuary Nature Reserve, a huge area of wetland habitats along the Blackwater River. The nearby village of Tollesbury has a long maritime history.

The saltmarsh is home to some of the most unique and wildlife-rich nature in Essex. An array of species live in the woodlands, meadows, lakes, marshes, islands and shell banks.
