Mirów Castle

Highlight • Castle

The castle in Mirów, resembling a boat in its shape, is one of the oldest defensive structures in the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland. The Mirów fortress probably initially served as a guardhouse for the main stronghold located in Bobolice, 1.5 km away.

Maybe not flat, because there are quite a few of these hills, but smooth - the asphalt is still in perfect condition. It is ok for families with children, although the smaller children will have difficulty climbing some of the hills, and in the peak season there can be a lot of traffic there.

Barns in Żarki

Highlight • Historical Site

At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, farmers from Żary built several dozen barns (east of the dense urban development), where they stored their crops and agricultural equipment.
The buildings were wooden and thatched. They were all consumed by a fire in 1938.
In their place were built structures made of limestone and brick, covered with a gable roof with tiles.
Until recently, you could see 40 barns in Żarki, currently there are 32.
In their immediate vicinity, there is the largest marketplace in the entire region - on an area of approximately 1.5 hectares, up to 500 traders display their goods every Saturday.
Żarki is worth visiting during an interesting cyclical event - "Merchant's Neighbor". In one of the barns in Żary, you can listen to a folk band, try tartarczuch bread or other delicacies, buy regional products and souvenirs.
Kupiecki Sąsiek takes place on Saturdays every long weekend (May, June, August and on the Saturday preceding Palm Sunday).

Żarki Market Square

Highlight • Settlement

Żarki is a small but old town located in the center of the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland. They derive their township from the 14th century, and in the 15th century the city privileges were confirmed by King Władysław Jagiełło. For centuries, the town was in the hands of mighty noble families, incl. Koryciński and Męciński. The nineteenth century resulted in the opening of several industrial plants in Żarki and the dominance of the city by the Jewish population, dealing mainly with trade and crafts. The consequence of the participation of the residents of Żarki in the January Uprising was the removal of city rights by the Russian invader. At the end of the 19th century, most of the town's population was engaged in small crafts and trade, but also in farming. The townspeople owned arable fields, meadows and pastures.

It is maybe 15 minutes to the top and the front view. And the mountain itself is a place for people climbing on rocks, so at least you can look at them :)
