Camber Sands Beach and Dunes

Highlight • Natural

Unlike most beaches in the area, Camber Sands, as the name suggests, is a sandy beach! You'll also find the only sand dunes in East Sussex here.

Stretching for 5 miles (8 km), this unspoilt beach is a popular windsurfing and kite-surfing spot.

Despite its gorgeous sand, you can usually enjoy the beach in relative quiet, even in the height of summer.

Rye Watersports Lake

Highlight • Lake

There are lots of lakes between Rye and Camber Sands, this is the biggest. There are only a few places where you can get to the water!

According to the sign, the path along the left bank towards Rye is closed until around October 24th due to work.

The path on the right is OK, but it's asphalt and always along the road, nice for cycling, but a bit boring for us to walk.

Historic Centre of Rye

Highlight • Historical Site

Rye has many old, protected and unprotected buildings. It is also very worthwhile to roam the upper lanes between the church and the castle complex,

Landgate Arch, Rye

Highlight • Monument

Rye is a stunning coastal town with charm in abundance and plenty of history to discover. One of the Cinque Ports, Rye played an important role in trade and defence on the south coast. Because of this, smugglers also used the harbour, especially the notorious Hawkhurst Gang who met at The Mermaid Inn in the town.

From wondering the steep-cobbled streets to visiting museums, or simply enjoying a coffee in the sunshine – Rye is a lovely place to explore.
