From here is a great view of St Michael's Mount, a tidal island that is home to a castle and a church. Access to the island is possible by foot across a causeway at low to mid tide.

On the metal fence is the first line of a song "Abide with me, fast falls the eventide" and below that the notes. Some research tells me that "Abide with Me" is a Christian hymn by Scottish Anglican clergyman Henry Francis Lyte. A prayer to God to remain with the speaker throughout his life and death was written by Lyte in 1847 as he was dying of tuberculosis.
