The square is named after Michel Duroc, a local-born student at the Pont-à-Mousson Royal Military School. There are many architectural buildings from the 16th to 20th centuries. In the center is a fountain commemorating the use of American volunteer ambulance drivers in eastern France from 1915 to 1917. St. Martin's Church

Built from the 13th century onwards by the Antonists, an order dedicated to caring for the sick, it was originally the church of a hospital. In 1574, the church was handed over to the Jesuits, who transformed it into the university church of the newly founded Université de Pont-à-Mousson.
