It is one of the largest lakes in Brittany with a length of 5.5 kilometers and a width of between 500 and 900 meters depending on the location. Lake Ploërmel constitutes a habitat of choice for many aquatic and terrestrial species. Otters, frogs, deer, white fish and insects benefit from this space fed by the Yvel.

Botany lovers will appreciate the Hydrangea circuit which runs for three kilometers, while running enthusiasts and cyclists take the path which goes around the lake. On the west bank, the water sports center offers a range of sailing or rowing sports, just a stone's throw from the beach.
