Silver Point is a superb viewpoint for Ullswater and the surrounding fells. On the shoreline path between Patterdale and Howtown, it has become a popular photo spot down the years. Norfolk Island is directly west of the promontory; it is the largest on the lake.

It's a great spot for a snack on the wonderful Ullswater eastern shore walk. they serve cakes, drinks, ice cream and savoury food.
They also have accommodation on the farm if you want to base yourself somewhere remote with amazing walking from the door.

Kailpot Crag and Hallinhag Wood

Highlight (Segment) • Viewpoint

Kailpot Crag is a little cliff just off the lakeside trail. The water is deep here, and groups use this for coasteering. You can access the lake for a swim if you fancy it. If it's cooler or you don't fancy a dip the height of the crag means you get great views across the lake.
Hallinhag Wood is an ancient strip of woodland between Hallin Fell and Ullswater, The trail along this section is rough and rocky so although it's beautiful you need to keep an eye on your feet.

quick stop, little pub in a few minutes walk.

A fabulously testing low-level Lakes trail. Steep climbs, puckeringly techy descents and all at low levels - so there's little chance of appalling weather ruining things. Mind you, it can get extremely sketchy in the wet. Also, as it's low level and very popular, there will be plenty of walkers, so watch out for them!
