The Sanctuary of S. Giorgio
The Sanctuary of the Seven Churches in Monselice is certainly the most important religious monumental complex in the city. The evocative votive path, located on the slopes of the Colle della Rocca, is made up of six chapels that follow one another along the sacred road that climbs up to the square in front of Villa Duodo, where the last Church dedicated to San Giorgio is located, the largest of the seven, the culmination and arrival point of the Jubilee Route of the Seven Churches.
The church of San Giorgio, also called the church of the Saints, was originally little larger than a room, perhaps it was used as a family chapel. In 1651, the bodies of three martyrs and numerous relics were brought from Rome. The arrival of new conspicuous relics in 1713 induced the Duodo family to add a real sanctuary next to the church in which to preserve the bodies of the Saints and display them to pilgrims.

Villa Nani-Mocenigo

Highlight • Historical Site

In Monselice, walking along the Via del Santuario, towards the Jubilee Sanctuary of the Seven Churches, you can see Villa Nani-Mocenigo on the left, a sumptuous late Renaissance building (late 16th, early 17th century) with a scenic perspective staircase. On the surrounding wall there are dwarves, sculptures that allude to the name of the patrician family that commissioned the villa. Facing them is the elegant stables building.
