Due to the exposed location and the beautiful view, a tour here is highly recommended.
The Gedser Odde offers a unique nature, a rich bird life and an exciting history - in addition to the exciting feeling of being surrounded by the sea on all sides and standing at the southern tip of Scandinavia with a view towards Central Europe.
The surroundings of the Gedser Odde are very special, because the rough headland forms a sharp contrast to the inviting, wide sandy beach, which starts just a few hundred meters away.
Whoever stands here - especially on a windy day - sees and feels the untamed power of nature when the waves of the Baltic Sea hit.

The “Gedser Fyr” lighthouse overlooks the reefs that protrude 18 kilometers into the water around the Gedser Odde and offers a fantastic view of the landscapes of Lolland and Falster. Even the German coast can be admired from here.

And then of course there is bird life, which is by far the biggest attraction of this area.
The Gedser Odde is a special attraction for bird lovers - and for good reason.
Because the southern tip of Gedser lies on the main bird migration route between northern Scandinavia and southern Europe. That means you can spot thousands of migratory birds here in spring and autumn.

The most common guests of the Gedser Odde are the eider ducks, of which up to 130,000 animals land here every day, and with a little luck you can also see the rarer, more colorful magnificent eider duck.
But also those who love birds of prey will get their money's worth on the Gedser Odde. There is plenty of food for common buzzards, sparrowhawks and red kites. In addition, the Gedser Odde is considered the best place in Denmark to observe the rough buzzard.

South of the Gedser marina there is a beautiful sandy beach. Otherwise the beach is typical for the Baltic Sea with stones and cliffs.

Gedesby Windmill

Highlight • Monument

Nice old grain mill that can be visited. There is also a permanent flea market. The mill is a good reference point for everyone who wants to go to Gedesby or want to go further to Gedser. From the mill it is three kilometers to Gedser.

Beautiful nature trail through the protected area. If you are lucky, you might encounter the wild horses that live here freely and serve as natural landscape gardeners.

June 22, 2023,Dänemark-2023-17: Das südlichste Dänemark
Today we went to the southernmost point of Denmark, the Gedser Odde. There is a cycle route in the Naturlandet app, but we have adapted it for ourselves.
We started at Gedesby Church, which was unlocked thanks to a friendly cemetery gardener.
Then we drove through Bøtøskoven and sure enough two white-tailed eagles, which breed here, circled above us.

Our fifth stage on the Berlin - Copenhagen cycle route took us from Rostock to Marielyst in Denmark.

From Rostock via the well-known cycle paths to the overland terminal. Then a ferry ride to Gedser in Denmark.

We hadn't cycled a kilometer before we had our first breakdown. Then we headed north on beautiful field and dam paths.

Unfortunately, the rain slowed us down again today, so we packed a few things (we're going home tomorrow) and watched the weather report on repeat! 😳

At 3 p.m., we set off again for a lovely final ride. "Staying south" was the order of the day anyway because of the rain radar, so I put together a little tour!

We set off on a tour with friends in glorious sunshine. It was supposed to be a relaxed ride on our folding bikes. Two flat tires spoiled the tour somewhat. A strong cold wind also made us chilled while we were repairing our bikes.

Southern Falster: between forests, beaches, and the sea breeze.
A hike that smells of summer and freedom. 38 km through wild nature 🦌, small villages 🐟, and the charm of Denmark's southern border 🇩🇰.
The route starts south from the Bøtø forest 🅿️. Just before entering the forest 🌳, an enchanting beach invites you to rest barefoot on the sand …

Spontaneously made a bike tour this afternoon on our last day in Denmark. And what can I say, it was the most beautiful route of our vacation. A great finish. The tour to the southernmost tip of Denmark is highly recommended. You drive through a beautiful forest area and directly along the sea.
