The Lister Ellenbogen is the northernmost point of Sylt and therefore Germany. It is only four kilometers away from the Danish North Sea island of Rømø - which can be clearly seen when the weather is nice.
The peninsula, which is between 330 and 1,200 meters narrow and 4,500 meters long, belongs to the Listland community of owners and is therefore privately owned. To drive along the Lister Ellenbogen by car, you have to pay a toll or you can explore what is probably the most beautiful part of Sylt on foot or by bike, all free of charge.
The entire Ellenbogen is a huge bird and nature reserve, home to a rich biodiversity of birds, sheep and seals. Jürgen-Wolf Diedrichsen's free-roaming sheep generally have the right of way here. In the middle of the picturesque protected area is the surfing spot Königshafen, which magically attracts kite and wind surfers. This is an ideal area for newcomers to surfing, but veteran surfers also get their money's worth.
