Mount Dajt National Park

Highlight • Natural Monument

The Tirana cable car climbs for fifteen minutes through oak and beech forests to the plateau of Mount Dajti. Along the way, the view opens up over the city, the valley, and on clear days, even to the Adriatic Sea. At the top is the recreation plateau with a panoramic terrace and the starting points for short forest walks and longer routes in the national park. The cable car itself is 4.7 km long and forms the direct access to the high-lying Dajti massif.

Abandoned hotel that creates a surreal atmosphere, has its own charm.

Col of Qershia

Highlight • Mountain Pass

The Col of Qershia is an open mountain pass in the Dajti massif, where the path climbs between the forest zones to a wide saddle-shaped transition. The pass offers a first sightline to the higher ridge and forms a natural junction point between the steeper approach and the more open high-altitude zones. The terrain is rocky but easily walkable and marks the moment when the route detaches from the dense forest and the mountain fully opens up.
This is about the beginning.

The abandoned bunkers in Dajti National Park are part of the enormous network of concrete shelter structures built during Enver Hoxha's communist regime. There are over 170,000 across Albania; on Dajti, you'll find a series of smaller, half-collapsed examples along old military paths and open mountain zones.

From here you have a beautiful view of the city of Tirana all the way to the Mediterranean Sea and Durres.

The cylindrical tower hotel on the Dajti plateau forms the highest viewpoint above Tirana. The glassed-in top floor houses a panoramic restaurant and observation deck with views over the city, the valley, and on clear days, as far as the Adriatic Sea. Around the hotel are open grassy areas with grazing horses and hiking trails towards the national park. The building marks the end of the cable car and the beginning of the mountain routes.
