St. Germain Cross (Peace Cross)

Highlight • Monument

The cross commemorating the Austrian division after the First World War. The call for peace evaporated. The treaty only deepened the chasm of hatred and contempt between the peoples.
The place itself is quiet, beautiful, and peaceful. Picnic tables adorn the small clearing, hiking trails cross. Therefore, a hike here is always worthwhile.

In the early 1700s, the plague epidemic hit Kőszeg and its surroundings. The people of Kőszeg made a vow to build a church, asking for help from the heavens. This is how it happened that between 1729 and 1734, despite many difficulties, the Calvary Church was built.
Today, it is an excellent hiking destination with a great panorama. The building can usually only be admired from the outside.
There are 14 stations on the pedestrian path leading to the church, which were designed by the Viennese architect Ludwig Schöne in 1890.

September 6, 2025,Von Rattersdorf zum Siebenbründl (Hétforrás) und nach Kőszeg 🇦🇹🇭🇺
A very pleasant hike from Rattersdorf to the Siebenbründl spring and to Kőszeg (Güns) – beautiful, shady forest paths. Kőszeg is a very picturesque town. This hike is highly recommended.
