Rocky Trail to Tuff Alm

This is not the stick route. This one is much higher up and really exhausting to walk but beautiful through the gorge. This is the way to the Tuffalm. Here, too, you need surefootedness and stamina. A challenge for children

June 11, 2026,Blick auf den Völser Weiher – Tuff Alm / Malga Tuff Runde von Ruine Aichach - Rovine Castel Rovereto
After many years, finally back to South Tyrol and Alpe di Siusi.

A beautiful hike to the Tuff Alm. In 2022 it was voted the most beautiful alpine pasture in South Tyrol.
Rightly so.
Since it was well over 30C even at 1,300m, we shortened the tour a bit.

The heat continues to be our constant companion, hence a split day. First hiking, then swimming. So we took the bus in the direction of Völs and got off at the Camping Konstantin stop. From there it is only a few steps to the Völser Weiher, but we left it to our right for the time being. At the Huber-Weiher, …

From the Völser Weiher and the Huberweiher ponds, we initially take the shorter but steeper route up to what was once voted the most beautiful alpine pasture in South Tyrol. It's the Tuffalm, at over 1,300 meters above sea level, located below the Schlern plateau, the Völsegger Spitze, and the Tschafon peak to the right. A delicious Kaiserschmarrn (sweet pancake) …

We're a little early, but from the end of next week nothing was available at our favorite campsite. The train to the Seiser Alm isn't running yet and there's still snow up there 🥶. I hope that we can still do a hike there. Today we walked on well-known paths to Malga Tuff. The camels aren't here yet, of course. …

Up to the alpine pasture and then into the pond. That could also be the name of the tour. Given the hot temperatures, we abandoned our planned route and, after visiting the Tuff Alm, where there was apparently some kind of folk festival (which also had something to do with a fairly well-known musical group from Castelrotto), we treated ourselves …

To our surprise, there were camels on the meadow at the Tuff-Alm, with a great Schlern panorama. Parking at Völser Weiher €6 per day

Super nice tour to the Tuffalm. Voted the most beautiful alpine pasture in South Tyrol in 2007.
