Strasser Inn

Highlight • Restaurant

In its foundations, the house dates from the 6th century. According to scientific studies by the University of Vienna, old pot fragments that were found during renovation work date from that time. They can be viewed in one of the showcases on the mezzanine floor. A landslide in the 11th century buried large parts of the house in the Pustertal, on the remains of which today's parent house was built. The old parlor showed the year 1744. At that time the house was owned by Franz Xaver Ambrosius Mayr, whose property was auctioned 25 years later because he had plunged into large debts when building the new Holy Trinity Church, which he largely financed. He wrote the saying that was written in the dining room during his time: "I love such guests, who discuss friendly discussions, who pay me faithfully and honestly and march off peacefully." The new owner of the "Strasserwirt" was Antonius Gasser, a citizen from Lienz, who was followed by his son Bernhard.

In September 1837 Andrä Bürgler bought the property. Up until 1872, when the Pustertalbahn was built, the "Wirt an der Straße" was a stop for carters and a transshipment point for freight and goods. The name "Kofler Labe" (Labe = hallway) proves that the current farm building was once a farm. This is the name of a storage room, the year 1619 still stands above the former entrance door. On April 1, 1955, Eckhard Bürgler took over the property from his uncle. His sense of preserving tradition and his obligation to his legacy, which he saw as a mandate, have created a work that harmoniously unites the new building erected in 1986 and the tradition of the parent company. His eldest daughter Elisabeth followed him. She was in charge of the Strasserwirt for 20 years.

Tasserbacher Reservoir

Highlight • Lake

The Tasserbach reservoir was once a "real" reservoir, of which there are records dating back to the 14th century. The current reservoir was created with embankments and a reed belt, which provide a habitat for a wide variety of fauna and flora. A 2 km long walking path leads around the reservoir and invites you to relax.
