Aubonne Village and Castle

Highlight • Settlement

Aubonne is recognizable by the white tower of its castle built in the 13th century.
You reach the village by a climb well known to local cyclists, before emerging into the narrow streets lined with houses built between the 16th and 19th centuries.
Several cafes and bakeries allow you to eat before continuing your walk in the vineyards of the Côte.

The World's Vineyard

Highlight • Viewpoint

English: At the foot of the 11th-century church, overlooking a breathtaking panorama of Lake Geneva and the Alps, a plot of land belonging to the municipality was transformed into La Vigne du Monde (The Vineyard of the World) in 1996. Since then, each year, the winemakers welcome a guest country whose typical grape varieties are planted on one of the micro-terraces that make up this international vineyard. In 1996, Savoie kicked things off, and La Vigne du Monde featured Mondeuse Blanche and Noire, Viognier, Roussanne, Altesse, and Cabernet Sauvignon. A year later, the guests of honor were Ukraine and Georgia. Portugal, Spain, Romania, and Luxembourg are just a few of the European countries that have been featured. Argentina and South Africa have allowed non-European grape varieties to make their appearance at the foot of the Féchy church steeple. In 2011, New Zealand joined the project, adding another continent to the mix. Ultimately, no fewer than 58 grape varieties are carefully tended by the winemakers of the municipality. In September, these grapes are harvested and then vinified separately to create a special cuvée. (source: vinsfechy.ch/vignedumonde.php)

Argentina and South Africa have enabled non-European plants to make their appearance at the foot of the Féchy bell tower. In 2011, with New Zealand, a new continent contributed to the project. In total, no fewer than 58 grape varieties are lovingly tended by the commune's winegrowers. In September, these grapes are harvested and vinified separately to produce a special cuvée. From the shore you can let your gaze wander far across the lake, all the way to the Alps on the other side.
