Yellow Water Picnic Area

Highlight • Parking

A lovely small clearing with a few picnic tables and the Yellow Water river running beside it.
The small car park is a good place to leave the car for one of the many walks in this area.

Yellow Water River

Highlight • Forest

You can come at this from a few different directions but any way, it's a nice point to take a break and enjoy the sound of the water flowing below

Red Bog Pond

Highlight • Natural

Nice and peaceful place with a bench that's perfect for resting weary legs and watching the wildlife around the lake.
Even with the new gravel path this area can get quite boggy so best to wear the boots.

Slievemeel Summit

Highlight • Summit

Slievemeel is a 420m hilltop located in the southern end of the beautiful Mourne Mountains range in Northern Ireland. From the top of Slievemeel, you are afforded glorious views across the rolling hills, verdant valleys & sparkling lakes that define the Mournes. If you look closely, you can even spot the coastline and Irish Sea peeking over the treetops.

Rostrevor Forest

8.11 km

At 485m above the village of Rostrevor this is the highest point of Slieve Martin.
From here you can see Rostrevor, Warrenpoint and across to Carlingford and O'Meath in the South.
Cairns in ancient times functioned as landmarks to aid navigation, long before GPS. An early version of komoot!
The climb up here is steep but the views are incredible so take a camera. Even if it's calm at the lower levels, the wind can be really strong up at the cairn so be prepared for that.

Cloughmore Trail Waterfall and Stream

Highlight (Segment) • Waterfall

Lovely walk, can get muddy after the rain so take your boots

Kilbroney Park

Highlight • Rest Area

The well-signposted mountain bike trails take you through dense forests and offer breathtaking views of Carlingford Lough and the Mourne Mountains. The descent from the Cloughmore Stone, a huge boulder that was transported here during the last ice age, is a particular highlight. However, some sections are technical and require a certain level of riding technique. The trails can become slippery in wet weather, so caution is advised. Another plus point is the proximity to the charming village of Rostrevor, where you can relax in one of the cafes after the tour.
