Hall & Woodhouse Brewery

Highlight • Pub

Founded in 1777, this brewery produces Badger Beer. Still family-owned, this brewery is a popular stop for locals and visitors; you can take tours, visit the shop or simply pause and have a drink at the bar.

The brewery's history is a fascinating one; during the Napoleonic wars, the founder Charles Hall, won the contract to supply local soldiers with the government beer allowance of five pints a day (!).

Fursty Ferret and Tanglefoot are two other names produced here that have earned a reputation nationwide.

Somerset and Dorset Railway Path at Spetisbury

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

The Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway linked Bath to Bournemouth and was built during the mid-1800s. Closed in 1966, sections of it have become walking and cycling tracks. This stretch runs alongside Spetisbury and Charlton Marshall; it's used by the Stour Valley Way long-distance footpath as well.

St Mary's Church

Highlight • Religious Site

Unfortunately it was locked up, like the other church I visited. They are both under ministership by the same Reverend. Maybe just having a lazy day, but churches should always be accessible to those who seek them.
