Porlock Hill

Highlight • Climb

long and steady steep road uphill with rewarding views over the ocean and beautiful woodland surroundings. Some wild horses watching you towards the top of the hill. The top greets you with a brisk wind from the march land. One of the smallest grade II listed buildings is on top of the road - an old grade II listed AA phone box. Start of a great downhill ride on a well maintained gravel (quite steep and rocky - mountain bike recommended) track - very fast and super fun. Great views.

Hawkcombe Head Trail

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

Rocky, twisting single track at the top gives way to fast grassy track that leads into the woods. Great views on the descent and lots of fun through the woods.

Dunkery Beacon Summit

Highlight • Natural Monument

Welcome to the top of the world! Well, at least Somerset. We may not be blessed with mighty mountains in the South West, but it's still certainly and achievement to climb Dunkery Beacon at 1705 feet (520m), whether that's by foot, or by bike, on road or off. Be prepared for more fierce weather if you're planning a trip up here as it can be much more blustery and cold up here than in the Exmoor valleys. There's a great off road trail up from Exford - have you tried it?

Dunkery Beacon Summit

Highlight • Natural Monument

Dunkery Beacon, atop Dunkery Hill, is the highest point in Somerset. Standing at 1,705 feet (520 m), it boasts spectacular views. On a clear day, views stretch across the Bristol Channel and Wales, Exmoor and Dartmoor.

Dunkery Track to Dunkery Beacon

Highlight (Segment) • Summit

This excellent bridleway traverses the ridge from the small road, across Dunkery Beacon (the highest point on Exmoor) and down to the other side. From each end you can turn north to get down to the trails in Horner wood or carry on for a longer ride across Exmoor. Great views, and some old cairns and burial mounds to look at.

Badgworthy Wood Trail

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

This beautiful section of river is noteworthy for its open woodlands and great pools. A truly stunning section of the Doone Country.
