Dodman Cross

Highlight • Monument

The Stone Cross at Dodman Point on the southernmost point of the Roseland Peninsula sits high on the cliffs looking over the sea on three sides. Easily accessible by foot on the Cornish Coastal footpath.

A small fishing and tourist village on the Cornish Coastal path with a nice beach, a couple of useful shops and a cafe. There's a good sized car park here with the coastal path either side offering not hard (for an experienced walker) circular routes with stunning views. This is a good start point for a walk or planned break point on a longer walk.

The Cornish Coast path is always spectacular. This is a particularly nice section, not too rugged but great views. Cows and sheep are often to be found wandering this mostly isolated beach.

Portmellon Cove

Highlight • Viewpoint

Portmellon is a very small village and cove. The road closely hugs the sandy beach, which is completely covered by the sea at high tide.

There is a snack shack in the beach carpark and a pub next door if you are in need of sustenance.

If you approach Portmellon from the South West you will see the 'Beware Waves' sign on your left. Take heed on stormy days as the waves crash right over the road and can even hit the houses.

Polstreath Beach

Highlight • Beach

Located about a quarter of a mile up the coast from the working harbour of Mevagissey is Polstreath beach. Despite its proximity to this busy fishing village, Polstreath remains relatively quiet. This is in part due to the difficulty in accessing the beach which involves walking along the South West Coast Path and descending around 200 steep steps to reach the cove below.

The beach itself is around 200 metres (656 ft) long with shingle leading to sand. It is an attractive cover with shelter from the wind provided by the cliffs behind and an assortment of rocky outcrops break up the beach at higher tides.

Pentewan Beach and Village

Highlight • Beach

Lovely seaside village to stop off at for refreshments during your ride. Great coffee and cakes available from Little Bay Cafe or if you fancy a beer there's the Ship Inn with its beer garden. Personally I love a Flat White on the bench looking out over the beach listening to the sea 💝
