February 5, 2023,AMM - Massif de l'Ormont

Foggy outing accompanied by rain and snow in the Ormont massif. It's a bad thing, because I couldn't take advantage of any of the many viewpoints offered by the lookouts and rocks. But also good, because I had the mountain all to myself, with mystical passages in a curled up and enchanting forest.

Today we headed towards the Fairy Rock and the Tete de Raves, which was occupied by the Germans at the beginning of the First World War and the "Col d'Hermanpaire" road pass at its feet was secured with extensive fortifications and bunkers.

The Germans were driven off the mountain in 1915 by an advance by the French army.
