Gryfino Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

A three-span truss bridge. The spans are based on concrete pillars. In the middle part of the middle span there is a drawbridge part of the bridge.
In the years 1911-1913, the construction of new steel bridges began. The bridge over the Eastern Oder (Regalica) is an extension of the current Piastów Street (former Bruckenstrabe). The construction of the 3-span steel truss bridge was completed in 1913. (250 m long and 10 m wide) and ceremonially consecrated on January 31, 1913. The central span with a span of 103 m (between 2 massive stone pillars) intended for the passage of barges was additionally equipped with a swing bridge with a span of 7 m. The builders of the bridge were: Narten, Braun, Stuwert, Ostmann and Herbst.

A bridge crossing over the Westoder was built in the Middle Ages around 1306 to connect the cities of Greiffenhagen and Penkun. This was destroyed by the Swedes in 1640 during the Thirty Years' War. In 1857 a new wooden yoke bridge was built. The forerunner of today's Oder Bridge is a 120 m long steel bridge built between 1911 and 1913 for the construction of a road from Greifenhagen over the Westoder to Mescherin. The bridge was destroyed in the war in 1945 and rebuilt as a border bridge to Poland after 1960.

Mescherin Church

Highlight • Religious Site

Mescherin is located directly on the Westoder, which marks the border with Poland in the east of the village. In addition to the beautiful field stone church that you are standing in front of, the Rosow Memorial Church and the observation tower with the curved roof are worth a visit.

Marina Gartz (Oder)

Highlight • Structure

Port of the city of Gartz (Oder) with landing stage for passenger shipping on the (West)Oder and a small marina; Worth seeing is the big Oderspeicher as a former tobacco and granary as well as (due to the sometimes rather morbid charm) a number of smaller warehouses along the bank (e.g. ice cream café, pension "Villa Oderblick");
