Eppstein is worth a visit: The train station is an ideal starting or finishing point for a cycling or mountain bike tour in the Taunus. Its restaurants invite you to take a break and the surrounding sights, such as the Kaisertempel, can be visited on beautiful trails.

Angel Roundabout Blechelse - Kelkheim 🚴‍♂️

A real eye-catcher, the angel roundabout in Kelkheim truly deserves another spin around the winged Blechelse.. 🚴‍♂️

The now symbolic traffic circle with the angel stands unmistakably on Königssteiner Straße/Frankenallee.

When the first traffic circle in Kelkheim was built at the main cemetery in 2010, there was no money left for a work of art. A large garden gnome served as a placeholder. Apparently, many couldn't understand that this was meant to be funny, and Fred, the garden gnome, was destroyed several times. How surprised the people of Kelkheim were when one morning a large female figure with raised arms and wings spread wide stood in the traffic island.
The figure is the work of metalworker Luigi Mulé from Kelkheim. It is made of sheet metal and weighs 160 tons. Twenty friends had to help in a cloak-and-dagger operation to secretly erect the figure overnight on the roundabout hill. Kelheim's iconic figure is now permanently in place. And the people of Kelkheim even gave the sculpture a name: "Rotary Angel" or "Blech Angel"... 🚴‍♂️

Historic Town Hall Schwalbach am Taunus

Highlight • Historical Site

The historic town hall in Schwalbach am Taunus, likely built around 1700, is a central building in the old town. It originally served as the municipal administration before being repurposed after sustaining damage in World War II. Today, as part of the town hall complex, it houses a small exhibition on the town's history. Its history is closely intertwined with the development of Schwalbach, from its importance in the historic town center alongside the church and inn to its current use, which contrasts with the modern town hall.

Early History and Use:

The building stands in a historical row with the parish church of St. Pankratius and the inn "Zum Schwanen" (At the Swan).

It was probably built around 1700 and housed the local administration.

After the air raid of 1944 and its subsequent reconstruction, it served as the town hall, a police station, and later, from 1975 onward, as a youth center.

Current Significance:

On the first floor of the building (Marktplatz 1-2) is a small exhibition on the town's history, displaying finds from the Stone Age to the Roman settlement, as well as historical maps.

It is part of the historic town center, which has been shaped over time by new developments such as the Geschwister-Scholl-School (1956).

Comparison to the new town hall:

The administration moved into a newer, more modern town hall, thus eliminating the cramped conditions of the older one.

The historic town hall therefore stands as a testament to Schwalbach's long development from a village to a town, which received its town charter in 1970.

Frankfurt Skyline

Highlight • Viewpoint

In the Vordertaunus you can see the Frankfurt skyline on the horizon in many places. This is one of the most beautiful spots for this view, especially in the evening light.
